Spartan Race Sydney done. Beast (21km) and Sprint (5km) completed on the same day last weekend. Lots of obstacles, lots of failed obstacles, which means lots and lots of chest to ground burpees. Each failed obstacle gets you 30 burpees...I probably did about 300.
Next up, Cooks Tour trail run/walk/plod. This Saturday, starting time is 3am. 50km—I’ve signed up for the walk start time to give me 12 hours to complete it.
✔️ Spartan Sunshine Coast! Completed the 14km Super and the Sprint, which I found out is only 5km now, a few weeks ago. Both kids completed the 2km kids event, climbing ropes, doing monkey bars, and swinging across the rings. Lots of fun.
✔️ Also, completed the 22km Wild Horse Criterium trail run last weekend. Good training run (well, when I say “run”, I mean jog/walk). Didn’t come in last, which was nice! Got a million mosquito 🦟 bites though.
Next up, Spartan Beast (20km) and Sprint (5km) on the same day in Picton, NSW on 4 May. We’ll see how that goes with a pulled chest muscle from the Sunshine Coast event.
My goal for 2019 is to complete the following major events:
6 April - Spartan Sunshine Coast: 14km and 7km obstacle course events
19 May - Tough Mudder: 20km obstacle course event
26 May - Ballina to Byron Bay Coastal Walk: 37km walk
5-7 July - Brisbane Trail Ultra: 60km trail run
27-28 July - The Guzzler: 100km trail run (this will be my longest continuous event ever!)
14 Sept - Spartan Gold Coast: 20km and 7 km obstacle course event
16-17 Nov- - Spartan Bright Ultra - 50km obstacle course event
Of course there will be other "shorter" trail run and obstacle course events in between to help get me ready, but these are the major events for this year!
